In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a public education program in which consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. IOOV presentations are given to consumer groups, students, law enforcement, educators, the faith community, and other groups, free of charge. ■ RESEARCH AND WRITING: I conduct case-control studies focused on mood disorders, and on the generalizability of randomized controlled trials of antidepressants. I also write reviews, advocacy pieces and other materials that help clinicians and laypeople alike to treat and to live well with these illnesses.
